Book Launch: Children of the Ever-Changing Moon
Published by Jun | Filed under Children of the Ever-Changing Moon
Finally, yesterday (Nov.29,2007) the book Children of the Ever-Changing Moon is launch infront of National Bookstore, SM City Mall, Davao City. I believe its a successful event attended by friends and relatives of the young moro writers. The book cost 250pesos for the student edition and there’s a standard edition for 400+. The difference? the paper use in the book. Student edition is newsprint which is more cheaper. The content is the same.
Teng Mangansakan the Editor of this book and together with some of his writers – Sarah Matalam Alvarez, Nefertari Al Raschid-Arsad, Loren Hallilah Lao and Sahara Alia Jauhali Silongan graced the event and they even have time to autograph our copies. The book is published by Anvil Publishing.

(L-R) Nefertari Al Raschid-Arsad, Sarah Matalam Alvarez, Gutierrez Mangansakan III , Loren Hallilah Lao and Sahara Alia Jauhali Silongan. Far left is not part of the featured writer in the book, she is one of the guest.
Here’s the list of essays with the authors.
- A Letter To My Father by Pearlsha Abubakar
- What’s In A Name? by Gonaranao B. Musor
- Language Barriers by Sahara Alia Jauhali Silongan
- My Journey As An Empowered Journalist by Samira Ali Gutoc

At the back of the book:
The writers in this anthology have created a unique expressions of their Moro identity. The essays herein reflect the writers’ struggle with issues of identity, religion, relationships, loss, tradition, and change. Like the thin crescent of the rising moon, the selection reveals different facets of their “Moro-ness.”
This anthology presents new voices that offer a glimpse into the life of a people whose opinion, history, and circumstance have somehow been stifled, giving them an important, distinct place in our national imagination.
The part II of this anthology is coming next year. More young moro writers’ essays will be published. I have taken some pictures and can be seen at my flickr account, check this link – http://www.flickr.com/photos/wyzemoro/sets/72157603334367161/.
